This Journal/Autobiography is written chronologically, and is much more enjoyable and makes much more sense, when it is read from the beginning. To do it any other way is like walking into a movie when it's half over...you never really understand the whole story. This chronicles all of my life, including other bands I was in before and after AVALANCHE...which include BUDDY GUY and JUNIOR WELLS, MITCH RYDER, THE BUDDY CAGE BAND, THE MOHEGAN SUN ALL-STARS (formerly THE SHABOO ALLSTARS), KAL DAVID and THE REAL DEAL, and many others. It is still a work in progress...but it covers all the AVALANCHE years in great detail...and from an "inside" perspective...
Since AOL seems to be making it increasingly difficult to access "Early Entries" in this journal...people who are interested in reading this should go to the AVALANCHE web site listed above...and find "Links". Look for the link marked "Autobiography". A direct link from our site... to the first entry of this Journal...requires only a "click".
Each successive entry can be accessed by clicking on its title in the upper right of the “red strip” that is found on each entry. Although each entry is relatively brief...you may want to "bookmark" this...because the entire Journal is not usually read in one "sitting".
This Journal/Autobiography has been selected three times by AOL Entertainment as a Worldwide Featured Screen... on AOL “Music Talk”.

UPDATE FROM MICHAEL....(June 2004) : Along with Mark, Barry, and a Session Bass player, I was able to get back to Conn. and get into the studio to record a “new” Avalanche song. “It’ll Come Back and Haunt You” was written by me in 1986 and had never been performed by a group. It is the first-ever Avalanche recording featuring prominent keyboards. On “Haunt You”…I play three guitar tracks, keyboards and vocals. Mark plays two guitar tracks. Three part guitar “wire choir”: Michael and Mark. First solo (over the wire choir): Michael…End solo: Mark. Avalanche will be back in the studio in the spring of 2005, and new music is on the way!
UPDATE FROM MICHAEL...(Spring 2005) : Avalanche has just spent six weeks in the studio, as scheduled...and four new songs have been recorded...as well as some changes being made to "It'll Come Back and Haunt You"...including Michael Corsini on bass...and new vocal tracks. The addition of Michael on bass to the Avalanche lineup has been great...and he has helped to restore AVALANCHE to its original power and potential. Michael has known all the guys for years...has been a musical associate on numerous other projects with the guys over those years...and he also played on the Avalanche Studio Sessions in 1981. Trying to fill the huge shoes of the late, great Charles Calmese, Avalanche's original bass player... is something that Michael has done very well indeed...and his musical contributions to the new material are immediately obvious. The Mixing is currently underway...and a preview of the new material is uploaded here at SongPlanet. I am really grateful to have the opportunity to record again...with this band...in what is, for the most part...its original form (we all miss you, Charles). It is our hope that some of you can find a place within... that allows you to identify with it. ENJOY!
UPDATE FROM MICHAEL...(SPRING 2006)
Avalanche has again spent five weeks at Rough Cut Studio in Eastford, Conn. recording new tracks. Due to a ten day delay in arriving in Conn....due to an Electrical System breakdown in the band truck...while on the way from Florida...we were only able to come up with four newly completed tracks. We had hoped for six...but we actually did very well in finishing four. The band was very involved and efficient this time around...and some of these tracks are brand new...written during the actual sessions. We also made numerous improvements in our recording process this year, as well...including brand new amplifiers for Mark and myself....and vastly better recording mics on everything...as well as improved engineering techniques. The results on the raw recordings indicates that these new tracks may be some of our best material to date. We are planning the release of the first new Avalanche CD in over 25 years...featuring all the newly recorded stuff from the Spring Sessions in 2004, 2005, and 2006. The CD will be called "SPRING THAW"...and I'll keep everyone here informed as to when this will actually be finished... and available for purchase. As Mixing and Mastering progresses...more info will be posted here. Thanks.
UPDATE FROM MICHAEL......(AUGUST, 2007.)
Avalanche just completed six weeks of recording sessions at ROUGH CUT STUDIO in Eastford, Connecticut...and we have completed five brand new tracks. This month marks the 30th Anniversary of Avalanche's existence as a band...and we are still hard at work to push the envelope and create music that is true to our musical identity...but is also forward-thinking...and viable and fresh. We have come up with some really new material and are exploring some interesting new musical territory for us...so keep checking our page here for new additions to our music library.
The first of the new 2007 songs has just been uploaded here after a month of mixing at GOLDEN SUN STUDIO...here in North Palm Beach, Florida. It's entitled "Ain't No Hiding In A Digital World"...and it should surprise most people who think they know what to expect from us...musicallly. I also wrote a song to commemorate our 30 years together...it's entitled "The Road Less Traveled" and I personally believe that it exemplifies everything we're about...as a group....musically, lyrically, and in all the ways that otherwise reflect who we are...as a band. That tune is next up on the mixing schedule...and there are three other strong tracks to mix...after that one is finished.
This year...Stephanie Krowka...a talented new Songwriter/Vocalist/Bassist who sang back-up vocals on one of our tracks from last year (I Believe)...came to Connecticut again. It was a pleasure and a priviledge for me to be tapped to be the Producer for such a talented artist...and Avalanche backed her up on her first studio recording "DEEPLY" which is the title track of her forthcoming debut CD. That track can be heard right now...by visiting Stephaie Krowka's Artist page ...here at SongPlanet.
That's all the current news for the moment. Stay tuned for future updates and info. Thanks, again to you all...and keep on rocking!
