Novakayne Location: Atlanta, GA
December 2005 Novakayne started as an idea, as many bands do. An idea borne out of necessity for some, ideology for others; but above all else a relentless drive and passion for music. Today, less than a year into its existence, Novakayne is still building on those same principles.
As you read through the bios of the countless unsigned bands on MySpace and the internet, one word seems to appear with an uncanny amount of regularity: original. It seems that every band wants to be, and claims to be truly original. How many actually are? Very, very few. That's where Novakayne begins to seperate themselves.
With influences ranging from 80's metal and hair bands to acoustic singer songwriters, Novakayne sounds and feels original. The songs are real, the lyrics are understandable and passionate, and the musicianship is understated but very strong. The sound is familiar enough to be pleasant, yet different enough to be infectious.
In just six months of live gigging, Novakayne has shared the stage with the following bands:
36 Crazyfists, The Underwater, The Feds, Trigger Point, City Sleeps, Falling Closer, Echovalve, Lazyeye, HighFlightSociety, Tx/Rx, Aclarion, Derek St. Holmes, Slipagnt, Threshold and many others.
Novakayne's debut EP, 'the new black', is due to be released online Oct. 1, 2006, and everywhere on Oct. 13, 2006.
